Abstract/Text
The purpose of this overview is to increase the awareness of clinicians regarding hereditary spastic paraplegia. The following are the goals of this overview. GOAL 1: Describe the clinical characteristics of hereditary spastic paraplegia and recommended treatment. GOAL 2: Review the causes of hereditary spastic paraplegia. GOAL 3: Consider the differential diagnosis of hereditary spastic paraplegia. GOAL 4: Provide an evaluation strategy to identify the genetic cause of hereditary spastic paraplegia in a proband. GOAL 5: Inform genetic counseling of family members of a proband with hereditary spastic paraplegia.
